Horror Movie News: Horrorscope is now TAROT. The Legend of Lake Hollow trailer released.

What do the cards have in store for you today?

Tarot cards have been used to tell the future. Each cards tell a story and each card that is picked, especially in a sequence, is used to give guidelines on what your future holds.

In 1992, a young adult mystery novel HORRORSCOPE was published. The author was Nicholas Adams but it is now known that the true author is John Peel who was writing under a pseudonym.

Horrorscope became a popular novel among teens and is a personal favorite of mine as well. The story was about a serial killer targeting high school kids based on their horoscope readings that was published in the school newspaper. The writer was none other than our main character Robyn who found horoscopes and zodiac signs fascinating but also understood that the stars mainly influenced people and not controlled their destinies.

So of course when students start dying because of her readings, she becomes a suspect but she in turn suspects her nerdy science partner Jeff because he’s always so quiet.

Turns out the killer was the janitor.

The story was fun, spooky, and mysterious. You would not guess until the end who the killer could be.

When it was announced that there was a movie going to be adapted on it, I was beyond thrilled. But after watching the trailer for TAROT, my expectations have been a tad lowered.

In Horrorscope, Robyn’s mother was a tarot card reader but Robyn did not believe in it at all which is why turning the story from zodiac signs to tarot cards is a bit disappointing because why make a story on tarot cards that the main character did not believe in?

After watching the trailer for TAROT, I am no longer disappointed.

The trailer for TAROT reveals just who eerie and gruesome the movie is really going to be.

Whether or not the main character is going to be called Robyn, remains to be seen because there is no indication of what the names of all the characters are.

In the trailer, we see a group of high school kids, indulging in a tarot card reading. However, the girl doing the readings forgot one important rule: never use someone else’s tarot card deck.

And since she just “found it” there is obviously going to be something not so nice things happening to these kids.

After each character picks a card, they are targeted by the creatures depicted in the cards.

In one scene, we see a girl come face to face with the grotesque creature in her card after which she loses her balance and falls off the ladder leading to the attic.

In the next instant, the ladder comes down on her.

The others are haunted by the creatures corresponding to the cards they picked. Can they make it out alive?

TAROT definitely seems like a must-see movie for horror fans but it remains to be seen if it will work on the box office.

Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg have written and directed this movie based on Nicholas Adams’ book.

The movie stars Avantika, Harriet Slater, and Jacob Batalon.

TAROT releases on May 10th.

The Legend of Lake Hollow has a trailer and if you are in the mood to watch a movie with a lot of horror tropes and really ‘hollow’ acting, then this is the movie for you.

The trailer for the movie starts off well initially with the setting of a group of friends spending their holidays at a cabin in the middle of nowhere. On the way to a hike, they check the trail cameras and find a picture of a creepy creature.

They then get a visit from the caretaker of the property who looks like he’s holding onto a lot of secrets.

Later when the friends go to search for him, he is conveniently not there.

The friends talk about men with axes, coyotes and whatnot. There’s a girl with a malicious grin, a board that says Wendigo and lots of people standing in the woods in the middle of the night, trying to look creepy.

It seems to be one of those movies that has too much of everything except for acting skills. The dialogues are choppy and the acting, yes, I’m mentioning it again, is awful.

Then again, it seems to be one of those movies that is bad but it is also something you want to watch just so you can see how bad it can be. Or maybe it may just end up surprising you.

Directed by Chris Hollo, and written by Jerry Robbins, the movie stars Meg Barlowe, Liz Atwater, James David West, and Brendan Bald.

THE LEGEND OF LAKE HOLLOW releases on March 26th.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
