Horror Weekly News: M. Night Shyamalan sets a TRAP

The trap is set. But will it work?

M. Night Shyamalan writes and directs the next horror feature of this year. After serving as producer to his daughter’s directorial debut THE WATCHERS, he will also produce this year’s surprise entry in the horror line-up.

Starring Josh Hartnett, the movie centers on a father and daughter attending a pop star concert where the father soon learns that this is no ordinary event but a ruse to trap a serial killer.

In the trailer for TRAP, we see Josh Hartnett playing the father, Cooper, and Ariel Donoghue playing the daughter called Riley.

Riley is dying to see her idol Lady Raven in action and like a good father, Cooper makes his daughter’s wish comes true.

At the concert, Riley is having fun when Cooper excuses himself to use the washroom. On the way out of the hall, he notices a lot of police officers stationed at the exits and more setting up cameras.

Cooper asks a staff member, Jamie about what is going on. Jamie, who probably has never kept a secret in his life, blabbers that the serial killer, The Butcher, is presumably attending the concert and the police have set up a trap to capture him.

Cooper is stunned and you imagine it is because he is concerned for his daughter being in a dangerous situation. But then we see him find a private place and checking out his security cameras.

It is then revealed that he is actually checking out a footage from his basement where a man is seen all tied up and crying. A creepy smile appears on Cooper’s face.

He is The Butcher!

So we know what the movie is and what the twist is. Is that all there is to this movie?

Probably not.

Since M. Night Shyamalan is known to deliver the most surprising twists, chances are that the clues were all there in the trailer but we were all side-lined by Cooper’s reveal as a serial killer.

Could it be that he isn’t the serial killer? Could it be Riley instead?

It will be difficult to guess the twist until we watch the movie.

The movie also stars Hayley Mills, Jonathan Langdon, and Saleka Shyamalan.

Trap releases on August 9th.

The Limehouse Golem- My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: When Elizabeth's husband is found dead, all fingers point to her. But is it really her or the work of a serial killer? If like me, you’ve read hundreds of mysteries and are enthused about Sherlock Holmes tales, THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM is actually pretty predictable. Set in the Victorian Era, it promises to instil fear in you. Before Jack the Ripper, there was Golem- such is the tagline and you do want it to be the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the very end as to the true identity of the killer.   Unlike the Jack the Ripper legend, Golem is easily recognizable in the very first instance the character is introduced.

Delirium (2018)— My take on the movie with spoilers!

PLOT SUMMARY: After leaving the asylum and put in house arrest, Tom begins to believe the house is either haunted or he is hallucinating.  Most times, when we think about criminals, we wonder what could possible have prompted them to fall into a life of crime.

Look Away— my take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot Summary: A bullied girl switches places with her reflection. She soon regrets her decision as people start dying.  What matters most? Looks or confidence? When we see someone for the first time, we do notice their looks, the way they dress. Personality and their ability to initiate and hold a conversation comes second, doesn't it? Imagine meeting someone who is good looking but is dull to the core. Now imagine someone with average looks but is someone you can have fun with or have an intellectual conversation. Which seems more attractive? Look Away takes a very bold stand where appearances are concerned. But also about self-confidence. In the end, the only argument it makes is that one cannot possess both attributes. LOOK AWAY Movie Plot  We are introduced to a timid girl, Maria whose father is a plastic surgeon. Her mother is shown to have no say of her own. She is left to watch her husband ridicule his daughter about not being careful with her looks. Maria has a friend Lily
