Top 10 Moments from PEARL

The year 2022 could very well be termed as Mia Goth's year as two movies released that not only achieved box office success but also lauded by critics.

Mia Goth was praised for her acting abilities, and fans wondered why she hadn't received a nomination for her performance in Pearl.

PEARL was a prequel to the movie X, which was released in early 2022. Mia Goth played dual roles in the movie as the protagonist and antagonist.

Pearl was the antagonist in X, and the movie PEARL showed a glimpse into her life and what prompted her to become what she was.

And now the trilogy comes to an end with MaXXXine.

MaXXXine has a tentative release date set for July 5th.

While we wait for more updates, here are some top moments from the movie PEARL:

1) The year is 1918, and Pearl, who dreams of being a star, feels like her life is being wasted taking care of her father, who is wheelchair bound. She vents her frustration on  a poor goose who happened to wander in her eyeline.

The goose then suffers an impaling by a pitchfork and then is thrown into the lake as food for the crocodile that made an appearance in X as well.

2) Pearl is sent into town in errands, but she uses some of the money to watch a movie where she fantasizes herself in the actress' place. She then meets the projectionist who understands her fascination for movies and gives her a snippet of a movie reel.

3) Pearl is lost in her dreams when she heads home, and the snippet flies off. She frantically searches for it only to come across a scarecrow.

She imagines the projectionist in its place and begins to have her way with him. Realization suddenly hits, and she gets off him, screaming that she is married!

4) Pearl's dreams grow bigger, as is her frustration at not being able to get what she wants. She thinks that as long as her father is alive, she won't have a chance at her dreams.

5) Pearl meets the projectionist who shows her an adult film. Pearl is clearly fascinated. She begins to talk to the projectionist and blurts that she wishes her overbearing mother and her sick father were dead. She immediately covers it up, and he encourages her to follow her dreams.

6) Pearl's grievances take an ugly turn. Her mother finds out she intends to audition to be a star and tells her she will not make it. She also tells her that she knows about Pearl hurting small animals. The two end up getting into a slap fight.

7) Pearl's anger goes out of control, and she pushes her mother into the fireplace. The older woman goes up in flames. Pearl throws water on her and then drags her mother into the basement. She then goes off to have an affair with the projectionist.

8) The projectionist drives Pearl home in the morning and sees that her house is completely messy. He grows suspicious of her and makes excuses to leave. Pearl will not be rejected. She uses her favourite weapon, a pitchfork, to kill him.

As with her other victims, the projectionist is fed to the crocodile.

Next in line is the parents who are killed without weapons.

9) It's audition time, and Pearl gets utterly rejected. She completely loses it when she finds that her sister-in-law got the part. This results in Pearl using another weapon to kill her: an axe.

The crocodile is given another meal. This time, it is Pearl's sister-in-law.

The crocodile must have become so healthy by now.

10) Pearl has lost her marbles now and sits with her dead parents at the dining table. A Rotten, maggot-ridden pig is at the centre.

Pearl's husband returns and is in shock to see his wife has gone bonkers.

Pearl gives a weird smile, and tears roll down her eyes.

The movie ends. We know Pearl's husband became her aide in X, which means he too has killer tendencies.

At the end of X we did see Pearl and the husband killed by Maxine who then drives off.

Now, let's see what Maxine does in the next part.
