Horror News-- Don't say it thrice! Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer is here

The quirky horror comedy of the 1980s finally gets a sequel. Luckily the sequels title has the name Beetlejuice only twice. Say it thrice and Beetlejuice may just end up in your house.

Beetlejuice originally released in 1988 and was a commercial success. The movie went on to win awards for makeup and visual effects, and nominations in several other categories including best supporting actor for Michael Keaton who played the titular role.

The movie is listed in the American  Film Institute's Best Comedies, but it is its popularity and the television series and video games because of which this dark comedy movie has stayed in the minds of the audience even after all these years.

The sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now set to release thirty-six years after the original.

The original featured Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as Adam and Barbara Maitland who die in the opening sequence and end up as ghosts stuck in their house. When new residents move in, the Maitland seek out Betelgeuse (pronounced Beetlejuice) a bio-exorcist. They enlist his help to drive out the Deetzes and Beetlejuice sets about to do that.

Lydia, played by Winona Ryder, is able to see the ghosts and when the Maitlands are accidentally almost exorcised, she asks Beetlejuice for help. He agrees but only if she agrees to marry him.

Eventually, Barbara drives a sandworm while the ceremony is taking place, which devours Beetlejuice.

In the end, the Maitlands and Deetzes live in harmony in the house while Beetlejuice ends up in the afterlife waiting room, getting his head shrunk by  witch doctor.

In the trailer of the sequel, we see Jenna Ortega as Lydia's daughter Astrid who is attending a funeral along with her mother and grandmother Delia.

Lydia then reveals to her daughter that when she was young, she was forced to marry Beetlejuice and that her daughter must never say that name thrice.

Of course, Astrid does exactly that.

The trailer shows sandworms making a return and Willem Dafoe, a ghost detective. The trailer also shows Monica Bellucci who, according to reports, plays Beetlejuice's ex-wife.

Directed by Tim Burton, the movie also stars Catherine O' Hara, Justin Thereoux, and Danny DeVito.

Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis are reportedly not set to return because the actress explained that since her character and Baldwin's character had turned ghosts, there is no way that the sequel will be able to explain how the couple now looked aged after thirty-six years.

However, there is a possibility that CGI may be used.

BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE is set to release in theatres on September 6th.
