Horror Movie News— Devon Sawa stars in Consumed. M3GAN spin-off SOULM8TE coming soon

While we wait to find out if Chucky The TV series has been officially renewed, cast member Devon Sawa, who is often brutally killed off in the show, stars in a brand new horror movie.

Titled Consumed, the horror movie sees Devon Sawa playing a madman in a fur coat. He is quite possibly the hunter who is searching for the beast that runs rampant in the forest.

In the movie trailer, we see a couple Jay and Beth go camping in the forest to celebrate. Jay has obviously planned this camping trip as a surprise for Beth.

The music in the background offers a serenity tone to the scene until thongs quickly go wrong.

We see the couple awaken to find bone fragments and a shoe covered in slime. Presumably Jay goes missing and Beth is almost attacked by a monster when she is saved by a man in a fur coat.

The monster in question may be the Wendigo and when Jay returns he talks about how looking into the monster's eyes can make them possess you.

We then catch glimpses of the attacks and a lot of running about in the forest. At some point, the madman is outed as a beast hunter  and his eyes glow when he is either being possessed or attacked .

Will the couple survive?

From what we can glean from the trailer, Beth is sure to survive. Jay may not make it or maybe Beth will be the ultimate hero and save him too!

The movie is written by David Calbert and directed by Mitchell Altieri.

CONSUMED also stars Mark Famiglietti and Courtney Halverson.

CONSUMED will release on Aungust 16th.

After the success of M3GAN in 2023, the sequel was immediately greenlit and slated for release on June 27th 2025.

But while we wait to see what tricks M3GAN 2.0 will have up her sleeve, a spin-off based on the movie has been announced.

Titled SOULM8TE the movie will once again be produced by James Wan's ATOMIC MONSTER and Jason Blum's BLUMHOUSE.

The movie will not be about a kid seeking companionship but about a man seeking companionship in an AI powered Android after the loss of his wife.

Naturally, the Android will soon become possessive and turn into a dangerous threat.

A similar theme was seen in American Horror Stories, the anthology TV series.

In season 3, episode 2: Daphne, the story dealt with a man called Will who depends on his smart device to organize his life. The device called Daphne (voiced by Gwyneth Paltrow) soon becomes possessive of her user and causes interference in his romantic relationships.

The episode was based on the time of the pandemic and shows the main character becoming unhinged with the increase in restrictions.

In the end, he is accused of killing his girlfriend by spiking her food with peanut oil, something she was allergic to.

The police even have tapes proving that Will was behind her murder.

The episode had earlier hinted at the possibility of Daphne using deep fakes and so the possessive device may actually be responsible for ruining Will's life.

The plot of Daphne and SOULM8TE may seem similar but no doubt there will be a happy ending considering M3GAN had a sweet ending too.

The two producers working on this movie have been known to create family-friendly movies or if anything, movies where families come together in the end.

SOULM8TE is expected to release in early 2026.
