Kakuda Trailer Review
Following the massive success of Munjya at the box office, director Aditya Sarpotdar is back with yet another horror-comedy, KAKUDA.
Kakuda was first announced in 2021 and completed filming by September 2021.
The movie stars Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh, and Saqib Saleem.
In the trailer, we are introduced to a small yet cursed village of Ratodi. Every house in the village has two doors, one big and one small. One for them to use and another for a ghost to use.
At 7:15 p.m. every Tuesday, everyone must keep their doors open or risk being cursed.
We see Sunny, realizing that the door to his house is not open. He rushes home and tries to get the door open, but it doesn't budge. He is in the process of using a rod to pry it open when we see Kakuda's legs appear.
Kakuda delivers a swift kick on Sunny's chest and he goes flying across the floor.
He wakes up with a hump on his back.
When the villagers find out about his curse, they begin to prepare for his death. After all, he only has thirteen days to live.
Sunny's wife Indira, initially, does not believe in the curse and believes her husband needs a cure. But she is firmly told that her husband is cursed.
Indira calls Victor, a ghost hunter, to solve her problems. Victor may not be scared of ghosts but he sure startles easily when humans creep up behind him.
Victor meets with Indira and discusses the banality of modern ghosts. They either want to suck someone's blood, or dance in the night wearing anklets (Manjulika from Bhool Bhulaiya?).
He also mentions an incident where a ghost was invited at home to tea, and then told in a message on the wall to bring milk tomorrow. But due to the increased rates of milk, she got angry (A spoof on Stree?)
Victor then investigates the curse and realizes there is some truth to it after all and Kakuda may be coming for Sunny after thirteen days.
Sunny begins to prepare for his demise while Victor tries to locate the ghost.
The trio then end up in the fields and Victor tries to pick up a signal. They encounter a living scarecrow and a ghost that is intent on dragging Sunny away.
Will Sunny be able to survive the Kakuda curse?
The movie looks like a fun and entertaining watch. The cast does an excellent job keeping up the vibe of the movie.
Unfortunately Kakuda did not receive a theatrical release but will stream on Zee5 from July 12th.
