Latest Horror Movie News: Strange Darling drops a strange trailer. Circle gets a sequel ten years later.

Do you have any idea the kind of risks a woman takes every time she decides to have a little fun?

The newest cat and mouse thriller STRANGE DARLING has released a trailer after being screened in festivals in 2023.

The opening of the trailer will immediately have you captivated but if you are expecting any spoilers, you may be disappointed.

The trailer doesn't give out much except for a woman running for her life and being chased by a man in a plaid shirt and carrying a shotgun.

This may seem like an ordinary movie about a serial killer but early reviews of the movie suggests that STRANGE DARLING is bound to leave you surprised.

Everything is not as it seems and there are twists and turns after every chapter. Yes, the movie has been broken down into six chapters and has a non-linear storyline.

As per the premise, the story has been told over one night and is allegedly a dramatization of actual events.

In the trailer, we see Willa Fitzgerald sporting red hair. She meets with Kyle Gallner's  character that has been listed as the Demon.

The two spend a night together before she asks him if he's a serial killer.

In the next scene we see the woman running. Clearly something has transpired last night because she no longer has her red wig on. Her clothes have changed, and she looks distressed.

She runs up to a cabin where an elderly couple lives, and pleads with them for help. There is blood on her neck.

We then see the Demon calling out to her as he chases her.

The trailer doesn't reveal anything else at this point and leaves us with a shot of the woman running and thinking about how she got to this point.

Written and Directed by JT Mollner, the movie also stars Barbara Hershey and Ed Begley Jr.

STRANGE DARLING currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie releases on August 23rd.

In other news...

After the announcement of the scifi thriller COHERENCE getting a follow-up movie, it is now reported that yet another sci-fi thriller movie is getting a sequel, ten years after its release.

Clearly, there is a dearth of original stories or the filmmakers have decided to take the safer route instead of unwittingly offending a group of people. Either way, we have a rehash of movies released a decade ago, when people were not easily offended.

Circle was released in 2015 to not so great reviews. Critics thought the idea, though good, was underdeveloped while others approved the social commentary.

The story was about fifty strangers waking up in a glowing circle. One wrong move and they are eliminated.

The strangers have to choose who to eliminate. No one is spared, especially the elderly.

Ultimately, it comes down to three people: a pregnant woman, a little girl,  and a man.

The man manages to convince the little girl that they both should get eliminated and save the pregnant woman.

The second the girl leaves the circle, the man votes for the pregnant woman to be killed. Her unborn baby cannot speak yet so the man votes it out as well.

When he escapes the room, he finds several other survivors have also had to play the same game and that their world is overrun with aliens.

The sequel is tentatively titled Circles and will see the return of the man played by Michael Nardelli who will also produce the movie.

Circles will enter production later this year and may release in 2025.
