Horror Movie News: Broken Bird based on horror short Sybil, releases. Here After trailer drop.

 Joanne Mitchell’s debut feature film BROKEN BIRD has released in theatres. The movie is an expansion of the short horror movie titled Sybil that released in 2018. 

Sybil was about a timid undertaker who has a dark side that no one knows about. In the short movie we see Sybil get the keys for the mortuary. She is keen to get that responsibility and goes on with her work to prepare the bodies for the funeral. One day, she comes across the body of a man and gets instantly attracted to him. He’s dead of course, but Sybil is strangely attracted to him. 

On the other side, she has prepared the body of an older man whose grieving widow reveals that she had been an abuse victim. Sybil looks thoughtful and perhaps a little sad. 

Since the man she’s attracted to has a missing body part, she cuts off the arm of another man and attached it to her crush. As she delves further into delusion, she also becomes aggressive towards the other bodies. 

When the man’s girlfriend comes to see him and take him for the funeral, Sybil loses it. In the end, we see Sybil all dressed up, sitting at home and drinking with the man dressed in a suit. 

His girlfriend was apparently drugged because when she wakes up, she finds herself in her boyfriend’s coffin. 

The trailer for Broken Bird provides a glimpse of Sybil’s backstory. She apparently has a tragic childhood because of an accident that claimed the lives of her family members. This could explain her attraction towards death and morbid things. 

We see her receive the dead body of a man and her instant attraction towards it. Before long, she is lost in her delusion where she imagines a life with him. Her aggression is more palpable in this movie and we do see a scene where she avenges the grieving widow by attacking her dead husband’s body.

The movie is clearly not for the faint of heart and invokes creepy vibes. 

Starring Rebecca Calder and Jay Taylor, the movie is written by Dominic Brunt, Joanne Mitchell, and Tracey Sheals. 

BROKEN BIRD releases on August 22nd. 

Connie Britton stars in a new horror drama called Here After. In the movie, the actress plays Claire, a proud mother of a gifted girl called Robin. 

One day, Robin gets into an accident and the doctors are unable to revive her. Claire prays for a miracle and her prayers are answered. Robin comes back to life but something has come back with her. 

Robin is no longer the girl she was and seems intent on harming little birds. Claire suspects there is something wrong with her daughter but the doctors can’t find anything wrong with her. 

In the trailer, Claire seems to know just who exactly came back with Robin and why it is determined to harm her family. We get glimpses of an accident in the water. 

Clearly, whoever has come back with Robin from the after life has ties with Claire. 

This horror movie is written by Sarah Conradt and directed by Robert Salerno. 

Giovanni Cirfiera and Freya Hannan-Mills also star. 

HERE AFTER releases on September 13th.
