Horror Short Film Review: Nice To Finally Meet You

Plot: Adam comes to meet Laurie's family. But nothing is as it seems.

Meeting your partner's family can be stressful. You know you are going to be judged no matter what. You are, after all, dating someone's family, a loved one. They are obviously going to be possessive.

So even though the meeting can be nerve-wracking, you know what is the one thing you must do... keep your cool.

If there is one thing that is noticeable in the short film NICE TO FINALLY MEET YOU, it is that you should always be careful about the people you let into your lives.

NICE TO FINALLY MEET YOU seems like an odd title considering the small twist towards the middle. And then we must make our own deductions. Perhaps it refers to the meeting between Laurie and Adam and her finding out just what Adam js capable of.

The movie is eerie, and you can sense that Adam isn't all right in the head, considering the initial conversations that take place are blurry and focus more on the people's mouths.

Adam is nervous and clearly has low self-esteem issues. He thinks the father and brother will not like him and think him a loser. Perhaps Adam thinks that of himself, too.

When the truth is revealed, there is some confusion only because Laurie's expression doesn't display terror but rather annoyance.

And then it gets a little perplexing. If Laurie isn't reacting like her father and brother were killed right in front of her, are they both even there to begin with?

Maybe Adam killed them beforehand and is now imagining them at the dinner table.

Laurie is definitely there, and so is her mother. While her mother distracts Adam, Laurie jumps up and flees rather than helping her mother take down this psycho.

Laurie is bad at running because she's barely two steps out the door when she tumbles.

Adam comes to get her, they tussle, and Laurie manages to come on top. She bashes his head with a rock repeatedly.

This short movie is definitely riveting but Laurie's lack of terror at having an intruder in her house is confusing.

It's the kind of thing that suddenly  pulls you out of the tensed atmosphere. Suddenly you aren't so involved anymore and you will be analysing just what is going on.

NICE TO FINALLY MEET YOU merits a watch in spite of the minor flaw.
