Stereotypical Characters: The Hot One

 

In horror movies about a group of friends, there is usually one character who is given the title of being extremely good looking. In fact, they've won at least one beauty contest and if he's a male, then he's already a model.

Here are some of the stereotypical characters of the Hot One in horror movies

1. Wear flashy clothes

The character who is given the label of being hot is often wearing the most colorful and flashy accessories. They walk like models and are overdressed for any occasion.

2. They are called 'hot' throughout the movie

Until the killer eventually kills them, the hot character gets called hot in every scene they are in. They are introduced with fanfare as well, with popular background music to go with their strut. The camera makes sure to focus more on their assets.

3. They stick to the protagonist

The protagonist is dressed in simple attire and given a common hairstyle. In contrast the hot character looks even hotter. They are one of the protagonist's closest friends and often suggest giving them a makeover.

4. They are stuck to their phones

They are so good looking that they are either filming themselves or taking pictures to post on social media. In fact you will hardly see them without their phones in the movie. Their death scenes usually show them so distracted by messages and positing content that they don't see the killer approaching behind them.

5. They have so many followers

While they are popular in high school and college, they have a massive following on social media. And that number is in millions. The second they post new content, they receive instant likes, hearts and comments. Their followers are literally waiting for them to come online.

6. Serial cheaters

They may be going out with someone but they are definitely cheating on their boyfriend or girlfriend as well. And that someone is older than them. If it's a high school character then they are definitely dating an older person who either a college senior or a teacher or professor.

7. Throw attitude

They are good looking and have people throwing themselves at their feet.

So of course their head is in the clouds. They frown and smirk at anyone who is not up to their level and even poke fun at the protagonist for having outdated tastes and beliefs, even though they're are not.

The hot character is usually the one who has pissed off the killer at some point or bullied someone the killer was close to.

8. Leaves little to the imagination

They've worked hard on their bodies and know people are dying to catch a glimpse of their assets. If they aren't wearing revealing clothes before, there will be this one scene in the movie where they end up near a water body and then show every inch of their body.

They also make sure that they wear clothes that are plastered to the body.

9.  They are more into parties

There was a time when movies responsibly showed characters who partied too much, ended up failing. In contemporary movies, we get to see these characters party hard, indulge in illegal substances and still end up at the top of the class.

If there isn't a party planned, they set up a party by yelling it to everyone. Even if the protagonist is troubled and mourning the death of a friend, caution is thrown to the wind and an elaborate party is planned.

10. Killed because of their looks

The hot character doesn't get a merciful killing. Their faces are usually slashed or their bodies are ruined before they are eventually killed. It's as if the killer has been jealous of their looks the whole time.

After the Jock, the Hot One is the second in line to receive the goriest death.
