Horror Movie News: Blumhouse drops Wolf Man teaser. M. Night Shyamalan's Caddo Lake coming this October.
Happy Friday the 13th!
The year 2025 is going to start with Blumhouse’s latest horror movie Wolf Man.
The movie is a reboot of the 1941 movie with the same name that was a critical and commercial success. The new movie was initially pitched by Ryan Gosling who was also going to star in it. However, the actor left the project in 2023, leaving Leigh Whannell to direct and Christopher Abbott to take Ryan Gosling’s place.
Blumhouse has recently dropped a teaser for the movie that offers glimpses of a family heading to Oregon. Soon enough, the father begins to go through a transformation after being scratched by a wolf. This scares his daughter and his wife.
Not much else has been revealed and the trailer does seem to mimic the marketing strategy that Longlegs used.
In the official synopsis, a father named Blake inherits his childhood home in Oregon after the mysterious disappearance of his father.
In order to fix his relationship with his wife Charlotte, he suggests taking a trip down to Oregon, along with their daughter Ginger.
Unfortunately, he gets attacked by a werewolf and undergoes a transformation that puts his wife’s and daughter’s life in danger.
Written by Rebecca Angelo, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Corbett Tuck, the movie also stars Julia Garner and Matilda Firth.
Wolf Man is scheduled to release on January 17th 2025.
In other news, it is the year of M. Night Shyamalan. While we used to get one movie every two years, the year 2024 brings not one, not two but three projects from the acclaimed director and producer.
The first movie to release this year was THE WATCHED (THE WATCHERS) in June. Starring Dakota Fanning, the movie just about made its budget although it didn’t receive favorable reviews from critics. The movie was directed by Shyamalan’s daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan.
Following that, we got to see Josh Harnett play a serial killer in Trap that released in August. The movie was directed by M. Night Shyamalan and did better at the box office than the Watchers but received mixed reviews from critics.
And now, in October, M. Night Shaymalan produced CADDO LAKE will release exclusively on the streaming service, Max.
The trailer, which is more like a teaser, shows the famous lake that is situated at the border of Texas and Louisana.
In the trailer we see Dylan O’Brien along with his family visit the lake.
When an eight year old girl goes missing, it brings forth with it past tragedies and disappearances which alters a broken family’s history.
Written and directed by Logan George, and Celine Held, the movie also stars Eliza Scanlen, Diana Hopper, Eric Lange, and Lauren Ambrose.
