Horror Movie News: New Salem's Lot Adaptation heads to Max. Blumhouse's House of Spoils coming to Prime Video.
It’s time to head back to Salem’s Lot.
Stephen King himself has claimed that his 1975 horror novel Salem’s Lot is his favorite of all his books. But of course he mentioned that in a 1983 interview and his selection may have changed since then.
But clearly, horror fans still have this vampire-based story still in their hearts since there is going to be another movie adaptation coming this October.
Salem’s Lot was about a writer named Ben Mears who returns to Jerusalem’s Lot after spending his childhood there. He makes new friends but his curiosity, fascination, and the subject of his new novel, lays with the Marsten House.
Without spoiling much for those who have yet to read Salem’s Lot, the residents of The Lot, start to turn into vampires. Could it be because of the arrival of the new residents who have purchased the Marsten House?
Stephen King has admitted to being inspired by Dracula for this book so don’t be surprised if you find some similarities. Nonetheless, Salem’s Lot garnered praise from the critics and cemented Stephen King’s name as a serious horror writer.
Personally, Salem’s Lot has long been a favorite of mine because it was one of Stephen King’s books that actually gave me nightmares.
Moving on, there is a new movie adaptation heading for your screen soon. The movie, which will release on Max has recently dropped a trailer.
In the trailer we see a young boy run through the woods, get to his treehouse and secure it. Clearly, he is running away from someone.
We then meet Ben and Susan, the main characters. Susan wants to know why Ben has returned. We also meet Father Callahan who will play a pivotal role in trying to save the residents of the town.
We see the loved ones of all the residents, trying to lure them and getting them to open their windows and doors so that they may enter. They are vampires.
So far, the latest adaptation of Salem’s Lot looks exciting and no doubt, stays true to the novel.
The movie is produced by James Wan, and written and directed by Gary Dauberman.
The movie stars Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, John Benjamin Hickey, and Alfre Woodard.
SALEM’S LOT will release on October 3rd.
In other news, Blumhouse will make the spooky month, also known as October, a whole lot scarier.
Written and directed by Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, the movie is about a chef who opens her first restaurant only to face sabotage from the estate’s previous owner.
In the trailer, we see an ambitious chef leave the restaurant she works in to become a head chef at her own restaurant. She buys a new place and starts work on it. When her restaurant is ready, she tries to put her best foot forward and get the finest and choicest ingredients for her dishes. We get glimpses of gastronomic delights.
One day, the chef notices a garden behind her estate and decides to get fruits and vegetables from there even though a young man warns her about getting it from there considering the garden belonged to a witch.
The chef, ignoring his warnings, gets her produce from the garden and makes her best dish to impress her clients. However, she notices bugs in the dishes. Soon enough, all the food in her kitchen begins to spoil.
The Chef, unable to take the pressures of running a restaurant, is further troubled by the spoilt food. She begins to take medication and starts to lose control of herself.
Eventually, she creates a scene in her own restaurant.
In the last scene of the trailer, we see the chef exploring a tunnel, only to run into a hag.
House of Spoils has an impressive trailer and star cast.
The movie stars Ariana DeBose, Barbara Ferriera, Arian Moayed, Marton Csokas, and Amara Karan.
