Horror Book Review: I Found The Boogeyman Under My Brother's Crib

Ben Farthing's I FOUND HORROR series has added a new book to its collection. Released in September 2024, I FOUND THE BOOGEYMAN UNDER MY BROTHER'S CRIB has already become a bestseller in the Horror Short Stories collection as well as in the Horror Suspense category.

The author has a stable fan base who can not say enough about the latest book in the series.

While the author's previous works had taken bizarre and often whimsical twists and turns, this book is the first in the series where the Boogeyman is inserted in the title.

Some readers felt that the book appeared to be aimed at a younger audience, unlike the author's previous works, which were aimed at a mature audience.

Quick Book Review  of I FOUND THE BOOGEYMAN UNDER MY BROTHER'S CRIB

As with the author's previous works, the story gets straight to the point of the protagonist coming across a scary encounter. She may or may not have seen an intruder in the house.

Her parents come over, but of course, there is no intruder.

We then learn about our protagonist. She is sixteen year old Rachel, and her parents have a weird five hour sleep rule, which is leaving her exhausted.

And so that begs the question, did Rachel really see a Boogeyman, or was it a hallucination conjured by her tired mind?

Rachel will soon learn that there is a secret buried in the house she is living in that will shock her.

The story is told by Rachel, and she is the one who is going to help and navigate through this creepy tale. The author's style is much like the Goosebumps series, and the touch of nostalgia adds to the atmosphere.

The author introduced the characters adeptly and quickly outlines their motives.

Within the first three chapters, we understand that Rachel did see something scary and that her parents are not too keen to believe their teenage daughter and blame her for waking up her brother.

To Read or Not to Read?

Fans of young adult horror will enjoy this book. And since I have grown up on the  Goosebumps and Fear Street series, I found that this book would be a thrilling addition to my reading list.

I Found The Boogeyman Under My Brother's Crib is a fun and spooky way to start the Halloween season.
