Horror Movie News: Jack Quaid and Sophie Thatcher star in thriller Companion. Hulu's Carved Trailer drops.

In line with the current trend of creating intriguing trailers to keep the audience guessing the movie plot, here is another trailer that is sure to confuse you.

From writer and director Drew Hancock, comes a brand new psychological thriller that will release in 2025.

In the trailer, we see a chef give the finishing touches to a meal before serving it to Josh, played by Jack Quaid. The camera then pans to Iris, played by Sophie Thatcher.

The chef, whose face we don’t get to see, opens a bottle of wine for the couple. Josh looks up at Iris and is clearly disturbed while Iris raises an eyebrow.

When the scene cuts to someone in handcuffs, we find out that this isn’t a trailer for a romantic movie despite the use of pink in the title cards or the background music.

The creators behind the movie have also made Barbarian, so clearly, there is some unexpected twist waiting to show up.

The next few scenes are disconnected but promise violence.

There is someone trying to break out from the car, Josh trying to break a car window, both Josh and Iris pulling a gun on someone in separate scenes. There is blood and running about in the woods.

This is the kind of trailer which begs the question: what is going on in here?

In the last scene of the trailer, we see Josh push a candle under Iris’ outstretched hand. Behind them, we can spot the chef who may be Luke Gage. Iris has tears in her eyes but she isn’t pulling away from the candle even though her hand has caught fire.

There may be another trailer that give out details of the story but so far, this teaser works well to invoke curiosity and ensure that the viewers are in for a creepy movie.

The movie also stars Rupert Friend, Marc Menchaca, and Megan Suri.

COMPANION will release on January 10th 2025.

In other news, Halloween is upon us and while there are plenty of scary movies lined up to make your spooky season enjoyable, here is a comedy horror movie about a pumpkin going on a killing spree.

You read that right. It’s not a man wearing a pumpkin mask nor is it a ghost with a head of a pumpkin.

In this upcoming horror comedy, a pumpkin is killing off unsuspecting victims using its peduncles as weapons.

In the trailer, we see a group of teens (it’s always the teens who are up to some shenanigans) getting ready to carve a pumpkin. It’s a really ugly pumpkin and as soon as one of the teens cuts into it, the pumpkin shoots out its stem to strangle and hit the teen.

Following that, the teens are terrorized by the pumpkin who stalks them, get it? Stalk?

The pumpkin is apparently out for revenge according to the captions and it remains to be seen what the pumpkin is avenging? Did it not get enough water? Did it not want to be carved and wanted to be used as food? Or is it simply possessed by a pumpkin farmer?

Only time will tell.

The movie stars Chris Elliott, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jackson Kelly, and Carla Jimenez.

The movie CARVED seems to be based on the short movie released by Hulu during Halloween six years ago. In the short, directed by Justin Harding as well, a little boy is out pumpkin shopping with his family and sets his sights on the ugly pumpkin near the dustbin. The little boy practically throws a tantrum for it.

The farmer is more than happy to get rid of it, since while harvesting it, a crow kept cawing as if in warning. The crow is still there and still cawing but nobody pays attention to the crow.

The family takes the pumpkin home along with the other ones. The parents set about carving the pumpkins and place the decorative ones on a table.

The father finally picks the ugly pumpkin and is carving it when the stem shoots up and starts to strangle the father. The family comes it and that is when the pumpkin reveals its comical yet terrifying face.

Later, when some Trick r’ Treaters approach the house, they see an ugly carved face. It’s the father’s head with a creepy smile carved on him. While the children are studying it, the wacky pumpkin comes up behind them.

Just what did he do to the family.

The short horror movie CARVED is available on Hulu and Youtube to watch.

The feature length CARVED will release on October 21st.
