Short Horror Film Review: Undead Darling

 

Buried Hatchet Productions has finally come up with a daring short that is bound to leave you shocked. The channel initially produced shorts based on antiques and each short was captivating and terrifying.

But this time, the channel has taken a leap with its newest short UNDEAD DARLING.

The short is daring, appalling, and with a climax that is satisfying.

UNDEAD DARLING Plot

A man is eating his dinner while watching cartoons. A dog barks and the man warns Rufus to shut up as he is watching TV. When the dog doesn't relent, the man gets up and goes out. Before that we see a shot of a folded newspaper article.

He finds a grave uncovered and remarks that the dog must have done it. There is a body of a woman laying in the grave. The man removes her ring and speaks to her as if she can hear. He tells her she needn't worry as he is taken care of him.

He takes the woman inside and pretends to court her which means he talks to her and then puts on a vinyl record so that he can dance with her.

At the end of his imaginary date, he lays her down and performs a despicable act on her. Tired of his monstrous actions, he falls asleep. Moments later when he awakens, he feels nauseous.

He pulls out a strand of hair before throwing up repeatedly.

That is when the corpse, the woman, stands before him and slashes him over and over again. Blood splatters on the windows.

Later, a news report plays showing the woman's photo alongside with the caption that her name was Sabrina White and that she has been presumed dead after being reported missing for more than three months.

We also learn that the man's name was Kyle Ward who was 28 years old and that he has been accused of killing 16 women.

In the last shot, we see him laying in the same grave that woman was.

This short horror movie may not be easy to watch but it is one that you should watch anyway.

The acting is excellent, the story intricately horrifying, and the direction is creative.

Undead Darling is an exceptional horror short that thrives on admirable storytelling and capable acting.
