Happy 2025!

2024 has been a year of some really exciting and innovative horror movies. Can 2025 match 2024's diverse range of horror movies? 

Here's what is coming up in 2025. I've chosen the best movies that will be released each month 

1) Companion (January 31 2025)

This could have been a great way to start the year, a love story. Except, it’s a different kind of love story. Jack Quaid and Sophie Thatcher star in this upcoming horror romance movie called COMPANION. 

There isn’t much revealed about the storyline and the teaser leaves you more curious. 

If you search online though, the only plot information you will find will tell you that it is about Iris and her friends visiting a billionaire’s lakeside estate only to run into a series of trouble after he dies. 

Let’s see what the actual story will be about.

2) The Monkey (February 21 2025)

Based on Stephen King’s short story, Theo James and Elijah Wood star in this horror movie about a toy monkey who is related to a series of gruesome deaths. 

The movie trailer promises scares blood, and unhinged moments. 

Directed by Osgood Perkins, the movie also stars Tatiana Maslany. 

 

  3) The Woman in the Yard (March 28, 2025)

Not much is revealed about this movie except that it is produced by Blumhouse Productions, and stars Danielle Deadwyler, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Russell Hornsby. Apart from that, we have a one line plot about a woman appearing in the yard and delivering a chilling warning to a family. 

More will be released when we finally get a trailer. 

4) Drop (April 11, 2025)

Produced by Michael Bay and Jason Blum, DROP stars Meghann Fahy, Brandon Sklenar, Ed Weeks, and Reed Diamond. The story is about a woman called Violet, meeting with her date Henry. During the date, she receives a series of drops on her phone that instruct her to do various tasks or else her son and babysitter will be murdered. Her final task is to kill Henry. 

Will Violet be able to save her family and her date? You will have to watch to find out. 

5) Final Destination: Bloodlines (May 16, 2025)

Twenty-five years later, we finally get a new Final Destination movie. It was first reported to be a reboot, and then the story was supposed to be about paramedics. But now it seems that the plot and cast have seen some changes. 

While the movie has a confirmed release date, not much is revealed except that it stars the late Tony Todd who sadly passed away. This will be his final film. 

6) M3GAN 2.0 (June 27, 2025)

Is it going to be the year of Blumhouse? Probably. Here’s another horror movie that is going to be released from the production banner. M3GAN 2.0 is one of the most awaited horror movies to release in 2025. 

M3GAN 2.0 is a sequel to the hit M3GAN that was released in 2023. As we last saw, M3GAN does survive at the end of the movie which is why we are getting a sequel. 

Allison Williams and Violet McGraw return as well which means M3GAN will probably return to torment them. 

7) I Know What You Did Last Summer (July 18, 2025)

After much speculation it has finally been confirmed that Freddie Prinze Jr (Ray Bronson) and Jennifer Love Hewitt (Julie James) are all set to return in the fourth installment of the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise. The movie is going to be a direct sequel to the second movie in the franchise I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER. 

There were rumors about the movie being about Julie and Ray’s daughter being the killer’s target but that has not been confirmed. 

8) Thread: An Insidious Tale (August 29, 2025)

Directed by Jeremy Slater, the movie was announced in 2022 with the cast confirmed to be Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani. The movie is a spinoff of the Insidious movie and the plot is supposed to be a couple resorting to using a spell to go back in time and save their daughter’s life. No other details have been revealed so far and the movie may not even have entered production yet. 

9) The Conjuring: Last Rites (September 5, 2025)

The ninth movie in The Conjuring Universe is all set to release in 2025. The movie is intended to be a finale in the series but will it be really? 

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. 

There is no news on what the plot would be about but it will once again be along the lines of the paranormal investigators up against some dangerous entities. 

10) The Black Phone 2 (October 2025)

Based on Joe Hill’s short story, THE BLACK PHONE was a remarkable movie that starred Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, and Madeleine McGraw. 

At the end of The Black Phone, the Grabber played by Ethan Hawke is killed with the phone. In the sequel, will the Grabber’s spirit haunt kids? The plot remains unknown but hopefully it will do justice to the original story. 

11) Thanksgiving 2 (November 2025)

Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving movie, which was released in 2023, is returning with a sequel in 2025. The movie will see the return of Nell Verlaque as Jessica and Rick Hoffman as Thomas Wright. The two played father and daughter in the first movie, and also the survivors after…spoiler alert, Patrick Dempsey’s character Sheriff Eric Newlon went on a killing spree. 

The filming has still not begun but considering it was hinted that the Sheriff did survive, we may just see the return of Patrick Dempsey. 

12) Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 (December 5, 2025)

And it's another Blumhouse movie, this time the sequel to a videogame adaptation. 

Although Five Night At Freddy’s did not receive too many positive reviews from critics, it did exceptionally well at the box office and so here we are, with a sequel ready to release. 

This time the tagline states that anyone can survive five nights but this time there will be no second chances. 

The movie brings back Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, Elizabeth Lail, and Piper Rubio. 

Filming for the movie has reportedly already begun.
