Quick Horror Movie News: Horror Movies get recognized at Golden Globes

Horror movies have long been snubbed by the Golden Globes. Well, the tides have changed and this year horror movies have finally received the recognition they deserve.

In the past, only movies like The Silence of the Lambs and Get Out have received some acknowledgment from the Golden Globes but that was due to the fact that these movies explored deeper and relatable themes apart from horror elements.

Whatever the case, this year at least a  few horror movies have gotten the recognition they deserved.

First up is THE SUBSTANCE which has received five nominations. The highly acclaimed movie has received nominations in the following categories:

Best Motion Picture: The Substance

Best Director: Coralie Fargeat

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical, or Comedy: Demi Moore

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture: Margaret Qualley

Best Screenplay, Motion Picture: The Substance

Then there is Amy Adams who has been nominated for her role in Nightbitch in the following category: Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

Hugh Grant is nominated for his role in Heretic in the following category: Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

The nominations are rounded up with Alien: Romulus being nominated in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.

Competition is tough this year, and with Wicked, and  Emilia Pérez it remains to be seen if any of the horror movies or actors from a horror movie will win an award.
