Horror Movie News: Blumhouse releases first trailer of The Woman In The Yard. New trailer for The Monkey.

 Today’s the day.

But for what exactly is something Blumhouse fails to tell us in its first trailer for THE WOMAN IN THE YARD.

There has been much speculation about Blumhouse’s latest horror offering and the casting as well. The trailer puts most of the curiosity at rest and presumably, as we get closer to the release date, more will be revealed.

In the recently dropped trailer, we see the sun rising and in the background, a child’s voice as she recites a rhyme. According to it, when the sun is bright and the wind is still, that is when she comes to you.

The ominous warning is emphasized by the arrival of a woman sitting in a yard. She is draped in a black veil. No one knows how she got there.

The family whose yard the woman occupies, is apprehensive of her. As the mother nears the woman, she whispers that today’s the day.

She then unveils her bloody hands.

Following that we see a flash of scenes where the family is threatened by an unseen force and pushed and pulled around.

The sinister warning comes into full effect or so it would seem. Will the mother be able to save her family from this ominous threat?

The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, and written by Sam Stefanak.

Danielle Deadwyler stars in this alongside Okwui Okpokwasili, Russell Hornsby, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha.

The Woman In The Yard will release on March 28th.

In other news…

If there is one movie that is set to clinch the title of the most awaited horror movie of the year then it has to be THE MONKEY.

Much like last year’s LONGLEGS campaign, NEON, who is also the distributor of this movie, has managed to create quite a buzz and anticipation for an adaptation of Stephen King’s story.

Interestingly, this movie is directed by Osgood Perkins who is collaborating with NEON again.

Around Christmas, horror fans were gifted a sneak peek into one of THE MONKEY’S insanely thrilling sequence.

In the clip, we see a woman wake up in the middle of the night after she hears a sound. Expecting to see an intruder, she searches her house, gun in hand.

Eventually, she comes to the basement, when one of the stairs breaks and she crashes onto the boxes below. The boxes contain fishing hooks.

In the next scene, she is removing the fishing hooks and applying alochol on them, when she smells gas and goes to inspect in the kitchen.

Remember she has alcohol on her face? When the flames come on, her face catches fire.

She runs out, gets her leg stuck in a container and dashes straight into a signpost that has an arrow aimed straight at her.

The clip ends but we can deduce what is about to happen  next.

In the new year, we finally have a new redband trailer.

In the trailer, we see Theo James’ character, Hal, talk to a real estate agent and ask about a wind-up monkey toy.

The agent claims to have no idea about it but when she opens a locked cupboard, there it is. In the next instant, the monkey plays the drum and he panics, obviously aware of what the monkey is capable of.

But the scene cuts and shows another one where the monkey drops the gun and fires. It may not be the same scene going on but the way the trailer resumes to show us just how malicious the monkey is, who knows?

We then get to see Hal covered in blood, clearly shocked by what has just transpired. In the voiceover we get to know the backstory about how Hal and his twin find a monkey when they were younger, but because of the unnatural occurrences, they try to get rid of it by hammering it and then throwing it into a well. But the monkey keep returning and is responsible for multiple deaths.

Now that they are grown ups, Hal receives a call from his twin Bill. It is implied they don’t get along with each other anymore. Bill tells him about the Monkey’s return and Hal is skeptical about it until he witnesses an electrocution.

We also see glimpses of bizarre deaths and funerals.

The Monkey is going to be one wild ride.

The movie is directed by Osgood Perkins who is also the screenplay writer.

Apart from Theo James, the movie also stars Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’ Brien, and Rohan Campbell.

THE MONKEY will release on 21st February.
