Quick Horror Movie News: Return to Silent Hill coming this year

Welcome to Silent Hill.

If you thought the franchise was done, well, guess again.

Sure, the films may have not received positive reviews, but they still managed to gross almost $156 million worldwide.

The Silent Hill movies were based on the famous video game series that was published by Konami, who, after a gap of years, remade Silent Hill 2 and are currently working on Silent Hill f.

All that is revealed about the latest game is that it will no longer take place in a town in Maine, but the setting will instead be in 1960s rural Japan.

Apart from that, 2025 may see the release of Return to Silent Hill, which is based on the second video game in the series Silent Hill 2.

The story is about James Sunderland, who receives a letter from his late wife Mary, who died from an illness three years ago.

While there, he meets runaways Angela and Eddie, as well as eight-year-old Laura.

Along the way, they encounter a monster, known as Pyramid Head. Then there is a woman called Maria who strangely resembles James's wife, Mary.

Eventually, James is forced to confront his own dark secrets and face his guilt.

Spoiler alert: Turns out James smothered Mary with a pillow since he resented her for her illness.

Him roaming about Silent Hill is a way for him to come to grips to what he has done to Mary.

Return to Silent Hill is apparently loosely adapted from Silent Hill 2.

Written and directed by Christopher Gans, the movie will star Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson.

Filming has apparently ended, and the movie was initially set for release in 2024.

As of now, no release date has been set, but the movie may be released in 2025.

Perhaps it will coincide with the release of the video game.
