Horror Movie News: Bill Skarsgård stars in upcoming thriller Locked. Rumplestiltskin gets the horror treatment.

After the monumental success of Nosferatu, Bill Skarsgård returns in the upcoming thriller LOCKED. The movie, which also stars Anthony Hopkins, is based on the Argentine movie 4x4

Bill Skarsgård plays Eddie, a thief who happens to break into a luxury SUV only to find himself trapped in the car. Anthony Hopkins plays the car owner who also turns out to be a vigilante. Trapped in the car, Eddie has no choice but to go along with these plans.

In the recently dropped trailer, we see Eddie trying to break into cars because he’s desperate for cash. But he’s not all bad. Seeing a dog locked in a car, he gives him water.

When he spots a luxury SUV, he finds it open and quickly gets in. Soon enough, the car doors are locked, and he receives a call. The car owner, William, makes sure Eddie understands that he is a prisoner because of his own crime.

Eddie tries to call a woman for help, but he is in a soundproof car, and the woman adjusts her makeup and leaves. Eddie tries to break open the car with whatever he finds, even a gun, but nothing works in his favor.

Eventually, the car begins to drive on its own and runs over a man in an alley. No doubt that man was a criminal. Eddie is freaked out by it but William is not done with him yet. Eddie must face extreme cold and heat while in the SUV.

We even see the SUV drive behind a girl but of course, William isn’t going to hurt a little girl is he? Possibly, the girl may be Eddie’s daughter even.

At the end of the trailer, we catch a glimpse of Anthony Hopkins as he comes to meet Eddie.

That one scene is enough to give you chills.

Locked appears to have enough thrills integrated into the story but it is quite reminiscent of Stephen King’s Christine as well.

The movie is written by Mariano Cohn, Gastón Duprat, and Michael Arlen Ross.

David Yarovesky directed this Sam Raimi-produced movie.

LOCKED will release on March 21st.

In other news, while Snow White will release this month, there is another fairytale releasing soon, this time being given the ‘dark retelling’ touch.

Remember the story of Rumplestiltskin? In the original tale, the magical creature helps the miller’s daughter weave straws of gold in exchange for her first born child. When she eventually gives birth, the creature comes to collect, but upon her pleading, asks her to guess his name.

The woman had apparently accepted the help without bothering to learn her helper’s name. She has to resort to spying on him to learn his name in a song.

When she reveals his name, Rumplestiltskin leaves in a fit of rage. So much for helping someone.

It’s little wonder why most fairytales are receiving the horror treatment, considering that there is so much injustice going about against creatures.

Anyway, in the upcoming horror movie, Hannah Baxter-Eve plays Evaline, whose father claims that she can spin gold. The greedy King imprisons her until she agrees to do so.

In her cell, Evaline finds a creature who can help her appease the king and return to her loved ones. However, in exchange, he wants a human child from her…her firstborn.

Evaline agrees and when the time comes, the creature arrives to receive his part of the bargain. She refuses, and the creature gives her three chances to guess his name. If she fails, he will kill her to get the baby.

Evaline is distressed as strange events befall her. The creature, meanwhile, is busy dancing around bonfires and saying his name out loud to anyone who wants to hear it.

Rumplestiltskin does seem like at least a one-time watch for those who like their fairytales dark and not with abrupt musical numbers and actors who give out political statements when they should be promoting their movies.

Written and directed by Andy Edwards, the movie also stars Joss Carter, Adrian Bouchet, and Colin Malone.

RUMPLESTILTSKIN is scheduled to release on April 8th.
