Horror Movie News: Updates on Carrie, Crystal Lake and Scary Movie 6

 

It may be 50 years since Stephen King's novel was published but that doesn’t mean that anyone has forgotten the epic blood-soaked prom that was the central scene in CARRIE. 

Yes, after 50 years Carrie is set to return to screens but this time in a TV show format. 

Mike Flanagan and Amazon are currently are working on a TV series based on Stephen King’s famous novel Carrie. The TV series will reportedly have eight episodes and is currently in the writing stage. 

According to the latest reports, Milly Shapiro from Hereditary will play Carrie White, while Samantha Sloyan, a popular face in Flanagan’s TV shows, may play Margaret White. 

Casting is still not confirmed and no release date has been set. 

In other news…

Crystal Lake was initially thought to be an abandoned project after it was announced in 2022 and no further reports were released. Crystal Lake was going to be the prequel to the Friday the 13th movies with the focus being on Pamela Voorhees. 

Pamela Voorhees was Jason’s mother who takes revenge on camp counselors because she blames them for her son’s drowning caused by negligence. 

However, in the subsequent installments, it is revealed that Jason was alive all this time and kills anyone who trespasses his territory, Crystal Lake. 

The series is currently back on track after Bryan Fuller exited the project. It has been reported that Linda Cardellini has been cast as Pamela Voorhees. 

No release date has been set for the series as of yet. 

In other news…

Scary Movie 6 has supposedly entered production. 

The last Scary Movie released in 2013 and was not well-received by fans of the franchise who believed that the movies were a lot better when the Wayans brothers were making them. It didn’t help that the original cast was missing as well. 

But now, according to reports, Scary Movie 6 will see the return of the Wayans brothers, and the original cast, including Anna Faris and Regina Hall, are all set to return. 

While there is no confirmation at this stage, fans are already speculating which horror movies will be parodied in Scary Movie 6. Chances are, we will get to see a parody of the Terrifier movies, an evil Winnie the Pooh, Longlegs, and maybe even a storyline with the premise of The Substance inserted into it. 

Scary Movie 6 is set to release on June 12th 2026.
