F Marry Kill-- My take on the movie with spoilers!

Plot: After a break up, Eva joins a dating app and meets three different men. She suspects one of them may be the Swipe Right serial killer.

Quick Movie Review

Let's get straight to the point. The only reason I watched this movie was because of Lucy Hale. She can act, but unfortunately, she hasn't been getting the best projects since Pretty Little Liars ended.

It's sad that an actress with so much potential is getting weak scripts that barely hold your interest.

Anyway, I watched F Marry Kill and hoped it was better than the trailer. It was. The movie isn't the best one you will watch this year, but just watch it if you're a Lucy Hale fan

  F Marry Kill Movie Plot

The movie begins with a woman returning from her date, only to be murdered by an intruder.

We then meet Eva, who is obsessed with the true crime podcast Mark My Murder. The podcast is covering the murder and informs their audience that the killer was probably from someone on an online dating app.

Eva meets up with her friends to celebrate her 30th birthday. Her friends are Kelly, Robin, and Anthony. Eva is still morning her  breakup with Jake, and her friends tell her to get back on the dating scene because even though she was in a relationship with him for eight years, they ended it eight months ago.

Robin isn't sure she should go on dating apps considering that there is a serial killer on the loose, but Kelly and Anthony support the idea of Eva putting herself out there.

Eva then returns home only to be attacked by an intruder. It is Valerie, her sister who is pranking her. Eva bemoans her relationship with Jake and how she never lived her life when she was with him. She decides to take the plunge and get on the apps.

She gets her photo taken, finds that she looks like a maniac, but is assured by Valerie that men like that.

She also tells Eva to continue to swipe right and then sort out through the messages.

Eva doesn't get a good start and meets some boring men and perverts. She sees Kyle, the guy she used to go to school with, but accidentally deletes him.

She meets a guy called Mitch who invites her to an address. Eva goes there, expecting to go to his house. Instead, she finds herself at a bar.

Mitch works there, and Eva is relieved he invited her at a public place.

She connects with him, and before they can go a step further, Valerie intervenes. She confesses she put a tracker in Eva's phone so that she can track her. Eva is not amused and pushes Mitch to come back to her place. Valerie doesn't think she should be hasty considering Mitch has burned off his fingerprints during a cooking accident, and the Swipe Right Killer has not been found due to the lack of fingerprints at the crime scene.

Eva trusts Mitch and spends the night with him but afterwards tells him to leave since its only their first date.

Afterwards, Eva is visited by Norman, who is a security system installer. Valerie has called him to safeguard Eva.

They both get attracted to each other but don't act upon it just yet.

Eva meets Kyle next, who is a bit eccentric on their date. He tries talking to Eva, but since a guitarist keeps interrupting him, he blows his cool and throws his guitar away. Eva is shocked with his behaviour and distances herself from him.

However, later, he sends Eva an apology video where he shows her that he bought a new guitar for the guitarist.

Eva meets with her friends, and at one point, they play F Marry Kill.

Each of them place Kyle, Mitch, and Norman in different places. Kelly thinks Eva should go with Kyle, but Eva thinks he's a little unstable. She is still attracted to Mitch but wants to give Norman a chance.

Norman finally asks her out, and they go to a comedy club where Robin is performing. During an improv, he pretends to be the Swipe Right Killer, and Eva begins to doubt him.

He apologizes for his awkwardness. Afterwards, while they are at dinner, he suddenly excuses himself, saying his sister needs him. Eva meets with Kelly's husband, who reveals that the two are living separately for a while.

Eva follows him with Robin and does see him enter a house, see shadows, and assume he has killed someone and chopped them up. She sees him exit with trash bags in his hands.

After he drives away, Eva creeps into the house with Robin and sees a woman in a wheelchair. The pair make up some excuses about being  new neighbors, but the woman tells them that she can take care of herself and that if she does need help, she has a brother who helps her.

Their doubts are cleared, and the two leave.

Norman calls Eva to his house, apologising for leaving. She readily accepts and meets him there. He tells her about his sister and how they went through a traumatic incident, which is why he is anxious about her. Eva let's him show her around the house while noticing his shoes. In the podcast she listens to, Mark My Murder, the hosts have talked about how the killer apparently wears size 10 shoes.

Upstairs, the two begin to make out, but Eva notices a Stiletto and asks who it belongs to. Norman tells her it belongs to his sister, but she makes an ignorant remark about how his sister probably doesn't wear heels. Norman gets annoyed and pretty much asks her to leave.

On the way out, she looks up the shoe size, and yes, Norman has a shoe size 10 as well.

She drops her purse, and a woman wearing heels and a dress comes out of a car to help her out.

The next morning, Eva wakes up to hear that the woman who had helped her yesterday was found murdered. She was Norman's neighbour.

She goes to see Jake and finds many women there talking to the police. Jake tells her that women have become paranoid after they hear that the Swipe Right Killer has been using the app to target victims.

Eva confesses that she, too, thinks her date might be a killer. Jake introduces her to the woman he is engaged to—Winnie.

He tells her that the podcast has created a lot of paranoia but the truth was that they got some things wrong, like the wine was only found in one crime scene, and that the one thing common among all victims was that they were missing a shoe.

Eva tells him that she did find one shoe in Norman's house. After Jake tells her he can't just go into Norman's house and look around, Eva takes matters into her own hands. She goes to Norman's house and pretends she has lost her earrings.

Norman apologizes for his behaviour. Eva kisses him while collecting DNA evidence from his hair and scratching him.

She goes back to Jake and submits the items, and he says he will look into it. He also advises her not to stay in her house because Norman was the one who installed the security system, and if she suspects him, then it may be wise to live elsewhere.

Eva contacts Valerie, but she doesn't pick up. Kyle contacts her, and she stays with him for the night.

F Marry Kill Ending Explained

Eva tells Kyle how she suspects Norman to be a killer, and he makes a big deal about her rejecting him because of one outburst while she went out with a killer.

Eva gets annoyed, but then he suggests she takes a bath. Eva, who has only a shower, is dying to take a bath. She informs her sister where she is and goes to take her bath. Her sister does contact her and tells her she suspects Kyle, but Eva doesn't see her messages on time.

Kyle becomes unhinged when Eva comes out and sees the messages. She freaks out and runs downstairs. He gives chase, but before he can catch her, Kelly comes in and stabs him in the back.

Eva is happy Kelly is there to save her, and she tells her Valerie sent her.

She tells Eva to wait for her in the car while she makes sure the crime scene doesn't put Eva into trouble.

Eva sits in the car and hears a phone beep. She looks around and finds several phones in the glove compartment. She finds that the messages are coming from the dating app.

She goes in to confront Kelly, who lays out her entire plan about framing her husband, who was cheating on her. She killed the woman she thought he was cheating on her with and then realizes that in order to really send him to prison, she needs to kill a few more women. So, she uses her husband's shoes to leave prints at the murder scene and kill more women.

The two get into a fight, and Kelly is about to stab her when Eva stabs her in the back with a stiletto.

The police are called, and Eva is saved.

Jake later tells her that Norman had suffered a traumatic incident as a kid when his parents were murdered by an intruder, which is why he is so anxious for his sister who was with him that night.

Eva meets with Mitch and tells him she will not be able to continue their relationship.

She meets with Norman. They apologize to each other and get together.

The movie ends on a happy note where Eva has joined as host in the Mark My Murder podcast, as well as become a bestselling author for writing a book about her experiences with a serial killer.

During the podcast show, Kelly calls her from the rehabilitation centre.

My Take On The Movie

F Marry Kill could have been a lot funnier given the premise, but it is a classic case of opportunity wasted.

Lucy Hale puts in her best effort with a script that doesn't do justice to her abilities.
