Horror Movie Showcase: Brute 1976
It’s not summer unless there’s a gory, bloody horror movie to make the season bearable.
And BRUTE 1976 may just be the horror movie that you’ve been waiting for.
Set in the 1970s, BRUTE 1976 pays homage to horror cult classics and is in the same vein as Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes. Directed by Marcel Walz, the movie follows Raquel and her girlfriend who encounter trouble when their car breaks down. On the other side, a group of people who are in the desert for a photo shoot, also run into trouble. They end up going into a town where masked psychopaths reside.
Director Walz is certain that the hot, bloody, and dirty experience the crew felt during the shoot will be translated onto screen and enrapture the audience.
The trailer offers glimpses of what the audience can expect from this movie. On August 19, 1976, a van stops and the crew who are there for a photo shoot enter a town that they joke is nicknamed Death. They come across a woman who let’s them know that there is very little chance of them escaping and that no one has come this way in years.
Soon enough, we are also introduced to Raquel and her girlfriend, whose makeout session is interrupted by something sinister.
Can these group of people survive when a family of psychopaths, wearing bird masks and costumes, come after them with chainsaws?
Suffice to say, the movie seems like a great entertainer for those who enjoy survival and slasher horror.
Brute 1976 stars Adriane McLean (Miracles of Christmas), Sarah French (Blind), Gigi Gustin (The Retaliators), Dazelle Yvette (Garden of Eden) and Adam Bucci (NCIS Los Angeles). From production company Neon Noir, Marcel Walz, Joe Knetter, and Sarah French produced, with Dirk Schürmann and Tobias Schürman serving as Executive Producers. Robert Kern III (Prey, Creepypasta) provided makeup effects, and Marcus Friedlander (The Getback) served as Director of Photography.
