Are Original Horror Stories...dead?
Stephen King is the master of horror.
Everyone who has read his work from the 1980s will agree that Stephen King is clearly the most prolific horror author out there. But for the new generation who is now reading his latest works, may not understand the hype. Sure, he's a great writer... but master of horror?
Not really. His latest works are more of a mystery, mixed with personal political views. And so, when we (the ones who were born in the 80s and 90s) look over his latest works, we wonder…really? Are there no more original horror stories to the point that studios have to rely on novels written in the 1980s and use the brand name Stephen King to get people to watch their shows?
Sounds crazy, but it works. Stephen King gets new fans. The new generation will receive a helpful dose of horror, complete with a contemporary twist on all the stories that turned readers into fans in the first place.
The new generation gets to see all these incredible stories come to life and all the characters played by their favorite actors. It's a win-win situation. Stephen King gets new readers, while the new generation gets a taste of horror.
It's a great marketing strategy, but it begs the question: Are original stories dead?
