KPOP Demon Hunters Movie Plot

According to the Legend, for centuries, the Demon King Gwi-Ma has been sending his minions up to Earth to

steal human souls. It is up to the Hunters to stop them. Usually, in a trio, the Hunters use the power of their voices to create the Honmoon, a shield that protects the world from demons.

In the present, Celine leads the new trio of Hunters, who are now a popular group called the Huntrix. Their goal is to create the Golden Honmoon that will permanently keep the demons out of the world for good.

As the concert begins, the fans reveal their favorite member from the Huntrix, and we learn their backstories. Mira is considered the wild child of her family. They apparently never supported her rebellious behavior or her music career. Then there's Zoey, a rapper who spent most of her time in the US but is now back so that she can join the group.

Rumi is the leader of the group. Her mother was part of Sunlight Sisters, a popular group before them who were also Hunters. After Rumi's mother passed away, Celine, the other member of the group, brought up Rumi.

The Huntrix are on a plane, chomping down on junk food before their concert. It is part of their ritual before each performance to have Ramen as well.

When they receive a call from their manager Bobby, telling them they are late, the trio realizes that the people on the plane are not staff members but demons in disguise. This is made obvious by the fact that one of the stewards is pouring coffee into a plant.

The Huntrix are pissed that the demons are ruining their ramen time.

Then it's time to take all the demons. While fighting, their plane gets damaged, but the Huntrix not only manage to finish their ramen but also land safely on stage and vanquish all the demons. The fans go crazy as the trio performs their hit song, oblivious to the fact that they are being protected from demons.

In the underworld, Gwi-ma is not happy with his minions for failing yet again. One of the older demons, Jinu, approaches him with a plan to defeat the Hubtrix by forming a bit band along with the other demons. Gwi-ma decides to give this idea a shot, too.

The Huntrix are now looking forward to couch time and snacks after the concert and announcing a hiatus, but Rumi has other plans. She thinks they are very close to creating the Golden Honmoon and need to act first. Reluctantly, Mira and Zoey give up their precious couch time and get into their costumes.

They even have a significant song set up as their upcoming release: Golden.

However, during the rehearsals, Rumi's voice suddenly cracks. The others grow concerned, but Rumi thinks she just needs some rest and runs out.

Turns out Rumi has a secret. She is part Demon. Her mother was a hunter but had a relationship with a demon. Celine knows about this and has always told Rumi to hide her Demon patterns, even from Zoey and Mira, who would not understand.

Rumi checks her patterns and sees them going up her neck. She has a breakdown, realizing she may not be able to create the Golden Honmoon if she turns demonic.

Zoey and Mira suggest they inform Celine after they receive a call from Bobby, who is distressed due to the upcoming release.

Zoey advises Rumi to see a doctor she found online who can cure all ailments. He is Healer Han.

The trio goes to see him, but the "doctor" doesn't want to give her a checkup the regular way. He looks into Rumi's eyes and determines that she is a workaholic. He looks at Zoey and guesses she is a people pleaser. He tries to get a read on Mira, who growls at him, causing him to cower.

As Rumi sits in the waiting room for the doctor to give his tonics, she notices that most of the doctor's clientele are not real. He has clearly glued his picture alongside famous celebrities.

The trio leaves with a big box of tonics. They see shadows and assume they may be fans.

But it is a group of young men. Mira and Zoey are immediately besotted by their charm and abs.

Rumi doesn't see the fuss until her eyes land on Jinu, and she is smitten.

Jinu bumps into her, causing her to fall over comically and drop all her pouches. He holds out his hand to her, only to brush off his shoulder instead. Rumi and her friends are pissed but are in for a surprise when they find out that the young men they were eyeing are part of a boy band.

The Saja boys perform their song Soda Pop and enthrall all the people. The Huntrix can't help but be moved by the peppy song, too. In the midst of all this, Rumi realizes Jinu stole one of her pouches and also that he and the other members have Demon patterns.

Of course, they can not take down these demons in public, so they keep themselves disguised and on watch. After the performance, Jinu brushes his shoulder again, signaling to Rumi that he sees her and challenges her.

Before leaving, the Saja boys announce that they will be on the show "Play Games With Us."

The Huntrix gear up and don their leather outfits to take down the Saja boys. They sneak into the show just as Baby Saja wins the gulping down spicy sauce challenge.

Jinu senses Rumi is there, and just before leaving, he calls out that they have a special guest: the  Huntrix.

The spotlight falls on the trio, who are then encouraged to come down a slide and into the ball pit. Their leather suits become embarrassing as they squeak on the slide. Rumi is enraged but keeps her temper down in front of the fans.

The Saja boys bow down to the Huntrix, and seeing that these manners are pulling their fans away, the Huntrix bows lower and lower until their heads are practically touching the floor.

The Saja boys then flee to the Bath House.

Abs Saja makes a remark about Mira unable to take her eyes off his abs. This enrages the Huntrix further. However, instead of fighting them, the Saja boys beckon the water demons.

While Zoey and Mira deal with them, Rumi chases after Jinu, who scratches her arm with his talons, revealing her patterns. He is shocked to see them, and Rumi panics when her friends call out to her for help.

Jinu helps bandage up her arm and rushes out just in time. Rumi helps her friends send the demons away and then leave after an old man scolds them for entering a men's bath area. When they leave, the old man sings the soda pop song, and a Demon comes up behind him to feed on his soul.

Jinu is thinking about Rumi and wondering how she is a hunter but also a Demon, when he is pulled down by Gwi-ma, who lauds his attempts to get souls.

All the demons are cheering as well, and the Saja boys turn into their usual Demon selves that barely have any enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, Rumi is by herself when she sees a bird in a hat. She goes up to it, intrigued by its three eyes. Behind her, a blue tiger pops up from a portal. The tiger is clumsy and bumps into the plant pot repeatedly.

Rumi finds a note with the tiger, and sees it is from Jinu. At first she declines but then decides it is the best opportunity to take him down.

Rumi heads out to the rooftop and slashes Jinu's head only to find it was a mannequin. Jinu mocks her for her pajamas, causing Rumi to try to get him with her sword. Jinu manages to calm her down by talking about his past.

400 years ago, he was living with his mother and sister and trying to earn money as a street musician. However, he could never make enough. Gwi-ma proposed a deal where he could have anything if he gave himself up to him. Jinu managed to earn a lot of money and live a comfortable life with his family until Gwi-ma pulled him into the underworld, and his mother and sister were thrown back into the streets, where they perished.

He explains that the markings on every Demon are because of the shame they carry and that Gwi-ma's voice consistently taunts every Demon in their heads.

After Jinu leaves, Rumi begins to wonder if perhaps she has been harming the demons unjustly when they were already being tormented by Gwi-ma.

Zoey and Mira are working on a track called Takedown, a song where the demons are ridiculed. Rumi cringes at the vicious lyrics.

Bobby decides that the Huntrix needs to regain their fans after the Saja Boys have gone viral. He sets up a fan event where the Huntrix will do a meet and greet.

The first people to show up are the Saja Boys. Bobby quickly sets them up with a table, but when Rumi sees they are losing half their fans, she announces that the Saja boys will be sitting with them.

Mira isn't too pleased, and Zoey expresses her distaste until she sees Mystery Saja sitting next to her.

Jinu obviously takes his place next to Rumi and taunts her about not sharing her secret of being part Demon with her friends. Rumi stomps Jinu's foot under the table, which causes their fans to notice and form their pairing.

A little girl approaches Jinu and gives him a drawing that says he has a beautiful soul. Jinu is conflicted when he sees that. Rumi is confused since Jinu has told her that hatred won't defeat Gwi-ma as he has tried it already.

Rumi tries to sing the new song, but her voice is still cracking, and she has already found out that the tonics were actually only grape juice. She tries to change the lyrics of the song, and the blue tiger comes over with another invitation, which she declines.

Mira comes to see Rumi and asks her what is going on. Rumi makes up an excuse while trying to hide the blue tiger who keeps playing around her.

The next day, the Huntrix goes after the demons who are attacking a train. Rumi hesitates and tries to get a demon to reveal their torment but Mira comes and kills him off. She isn't too happy that Rumi is so distracted. The two get into an argument but manage to kill some demons.

Unfortunately, all the passengers in the train have disappeared. The girls leave, feeling dejected.

Rumi decides to meet Jinu.

He waits for her in a secluded spot and is easily startled when Rumi pops out of nowhere. He assumes it's a date, but Rumi quickly tells him that her save-the-date card was innocuous.

She tells him about how creating the Golden Honmoon is the only way to get rid of the demons and the voices in his head. They sing 'Free' where they express their feelings for each other and decide that letting the Huntrix win at the Idol Awards would be a solution to all their problems.

After Rumi leaves, Jinu is pulled down by Gwi-Ma who has sensed s shift in him. He reminds Jinu that his shame came from voluntarily abandoning his family so that he could have what he wants. He reminds Jinu of his mission.

At the awards, the Huntrix make up and are ready to go on stage when Mira and Zoey notice demons abducting Bobby. They go after them.

Rumi is joined by Mira and Zoey who, while singing, seem to pick on Rumi. Rumi tries to maintain her composure when her jacket is ripped off to reveal her Demon markings.

Mira and Zoey realize they were tricked by demons and return to stage just in time to see Rumi with her markings. Feeling betrayed that she never told them, they leave.

Rumi is devastated and goes to Jinu to accuse him of setting her up. He reveals what he did to his family and that he has accepted his Demon self.

Rumi is left in tears as her patterns spread.

The Saja Boys invite all their fans to a concert where they hope to bewitch all of them.
