Scary Movie 6 Coming in Summer 2026--Which movies are likely to be spoofed?
What’s up??? Scary Movie 6 has been announced is what’s up.
And the best part is that not only are the Wayans brothers are going to be helming the movie, but Anna Faris and Regina Hall are back too!
The Scary Movie franchise has been one of the most popular movie parodies out there but saw a slump when the fifth movie came out, minus Anna Faris and Regina Hall. After that debacle, the horror fans were certain that there would be no more Scary Movies coming out of that franchise.
But here we are, and it just took twelve years to make an announcement and in another month or so, filming is about to begin!
Over the past decade, there have been dozens of horror movies that have amassed a cult following. The Scary Movie franchise is known to parody popular movies and while it will follow the basic premise of the Scream movies, let’s take a look at some of the movies Scary Movie is most likely to include:
1) LONGLEGS: Love him or hate him, Nicolas Cage is making a mark in the horror industry and his character Longlegs has definitely stood out. The movie, directed by Osgood Perkins, is an interesting inclusion into the horror genre. It is eerie and atmospheric and the main antagonist, Longlegs, is the perfect amalgamation of creepy and psychotic. Apart from that, let’s face it, his get up is memorable. White hair, prosthetics that make him look half like a doll, half like someone who got bad fillers. Longlegs is just perfect to make fun of.
2) TERRIFIER: The deranged clown is a viral hit. People are already dressing up as him on Halloween and wearing the merchandise from the movie. The antagonist, Art The Clown, is a brutal combination of mime and killer that makes these slasher movies a horrifying experience. Not many have been able to sit through all the movies and some countries apparently banned them because of the violence content.
But Scary Movie may just be able to poke fun at Art the Clown and make him appear less demented.
3) MIDSOMMAR: Countrysides, flower crowns, rituals, and boyfriends being unavailable? Looking at it from another angle, can make this the perfect setting for satire.
4)TALK TO ME: A surprise hit, Talk To Me was about teens using a mummified hand to talk to spirits from the otherworld. Rules are naturally broken, leading to chaos. How can the Wayans brothers pass up the opportunity to use this in one of the scenes?
5) SMILE: Creepy people smiling, enough said. While an entire gag may not center around it, chances are pretty good that we may see a glimpse of the Smile Monster somewhere in the movie.
6) HEREDITARY: The story may not be as memorable, but who can forget the shocking decapitation scene? That scene is enough to give anyone goosebumps, yet give satirists the perfect material to use in a cutaway if not an actual scene.
7) M3GAN: Given that most horror movies are using AI nowadays, chances are pretty good that Scary Movie will use this as a plot device. And which AI movie has gained popularity in recent years? M3GAN of course. While M3GAN 2.0 may not have been as impressive, who can forget the viral M3GAN dance from the first movie?
8) PEARL: Mia Goth hit it right out of the park with her depiction as a suppressed and psychotic woman in the 1918 who just wants to make it as a star. The last scene where she simply smiles widely but is clearly having a breakdown, is iconic. Let’s just keep an eye out for a woman in a red dress, wielding an axe. If not one of the characters, she is bound to be parodied in the background.
9) NOSFERATU: A horror movie parody and no vampires? Scary Movie 2 may have made fun of vampires generally, but the franchise has yet to make fun at these creatures. The critically acclaimed Nosferatu could finally be included in the franchise and make for some really hilarious scenes.
10) A QUIET PLACE: Imagine a world where our beloved characters from the Scary Movie franchise, have to be quiet? Unbelievable…yet…challenging. Can this be movie, where a single sound will place you under attack by creatures, actually be parodied?
Anything is possible if you put your comedic mind to it.
This list of movies may be parodied in Scary Movie 6. Maybe not. Let’s see what the original team from the Scary Movie franchise will bring to the screens next year.
