Silent Night, Deadly Night Coming This December
Who’s excited to meet Santa?
Whether you’re naughty or nice would not matter in a horror movie where all that counts is if you can survive an attack from a deranged Santa.
Based on the 1984 slasher movie of the same name, the new adaptation brings in innovation and entertainment with plenty of gore.
The original movie was about Billy, who witnesses the murder and assault of his parents by a man in a Santa suit. He grows up with these disturbed thoughts, which are brought to the forefront when he works as Santa during the Christmas season and witnesses his coworker assaulting his crush.
This one incident throws Billy into a deranged fervor where he goes off on a killing spree. All in a Santa suit.
When the movie was released, there was apparently a big fuss about Santa being portrayed as evil. Parents complained about the effect it had on children and how they had become scared of the Christmas figure.
But now it seems that anything and anyone can be turned into a dark, twisted horror icon. If cartoon characters are not spared, then why should Santa be?
And so here we have it: Silent Night Deadly Night. Not only is it a remake of a controversial horror movie of its time, but it also adds in more gore and has recently released a red band trailer too!
In the trailer, we see Billy ride into a new town and get a job at a store where Pamela works. He sees a man being too affectionate with Pamela and gets triggered.
In the next scene, he dons a Santa suit and goes on a killing spree. First, it’s a man who is fixing a car, then it is an axe on an older man’s head in his own home.
While Billy is shown primarily using an axe to kill people, he also uses innovative ways like the bow and arrow, antlers, and knives.
By the time we see Billy again, his white beard is splattered with blood.
This is going to be some slasher movie.
Directed by Mike P. Nelson, who also serves as a writer along with Michael Hickey and Paul Caimi, the film stars Rohan Campbell as Billy Chapman and Ruby Modine as Pamela Varo, with a supporting cast that includes Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson.
