Neve Campbell returns to battle Ghostface in Scream 7
“Hello Sidney…”
Sidney Prescott will once again have to deal with threatening calls, evading a serial killer’s attacks and teaming up with her old friends. Too bad she thought she would be safe after leaving Woodsboro. Apparently, you can never get far away from Ghostface.
Yes, Scream is back, and so is Sidne,y who was missing from the sixth movie. But that’s not all, past characters like Gale Weathers, Dewey Riley, Stu Macher, and Roman Bridger are also coming back.
For those who have missed some movies or forgotten the previous events, Dewey was killed in Scream 5. Stu Macher was the first Ghostface and was killed in Scream. Roman Bridger was killed in Season 3.
So why are these three listed in the cast? Is Sidney going to have a breakdown and imagine these three? Were they alive all along? Will Scream 7 take on a supernatural twist where all past killers return as ghosts? Or is Sidney hallucinating?
We won’t find out until February 2026, but for now, we have the very first trailer for the movie.
In the trailer, we see a couple enter a psycho killer’s B&B. Fans of the franchise will be quick to recognize it as Stu Macher’s dwelling. No time is wasted as Ghostface quickly comes for the attack. There’s some running around, but you know this couple is doomed.
We see the young woman swing from a chandelier before she falls directly on top of Ghostface who is holding a knife. Does Ghostface end with bruises after having a human fall on him? We will never know.
Next up is Sidney, who is living a peaceful existence in a new town when she receives a call from Ghostface. But Sidney is unperturbed. She takes the call while doing her work as if she is speaking to her friend. But when he points out that she has a pretty daughter and the light goes off,
Ghostface is in the house and attacking them. Sidney and her daughter Tatum have to hide in a space between the walls, but Ghostface manages to stab right through the paper-thin, cardboard walls.
Later, we see Tatum asking Sidney to teach her how to fight. But Tatum gets taken by Ghostface. Gale shows up to help Sidney, and we also see glimpses of Chad and Mindy. Then we see Joel McHale as Sidney’s husband, who gets attacked by Ghostface and stabbed.
Sidney runs around town where the streets are strangely quiet. She uses her surveillance app to help Tatum fight Ghostface as he runs amok in the house.
Tatum manages to shoot him, but Sidney instructs her to shoot him in the head. As she tries to do that, Ghostface gets up.
We see Sidney with a gun and Ghostface burning down the house. From serial killer to arsonist, it has been quite a journey for Ghostface.
The film is directed by franchise creator and original screenwriter Kevin Williamson. The main cast is centered on the return of the original final girl, Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, alongside Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, with Roger L. Jackson returning as the voice of Ghostface. They are joined by returning survivors Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy Meeks-Martin) and Mason Gooding (Chad Meeks-Martin), and new key cast members, including Isabel May (Sidney's daughter, Tatum) and Joel McHale (Sidney's husband, Mark Evans).
SCREAM 7 will release on 27th February 2026.
