Stephen King’s ‘Mister Yummy’ Heads to the Screen as Intrinsic Value Unveils IP Slate
Intrinsic Value Films, the production company celebrated for championing filmmaker-driven work, has announced a significant expansion of its portfolio, securing major intellectual property (IP) and unveiling a new slate of projects. Headlining the announcement for horror fans is an adaptation of a haunting short story by the King of Horror, Stephen King.
The news follows strong festival momentum for the company's latest feature, the horror title The Red Mask.
The Stephen King Adaptation: Mister Yummy
The most notable inclusion for the horror community is the project Mister Yummy, based on the short story from Stephen King’s 2015 collection, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams.
Project: Mister Yummy
Plot: The film is described as a "haunting tale" following a man confronting mortality, where "death waits around every corner and regret becomes the ghost that never leaves."
Source Material: King's original story centers on an elderly man in an assisted living center who believes he is being visited by a beautiful, young avatar of death—a man he once knew as "Mister Yummy" from a New York dance club during the AIDS epidemic. The tale is a poignant, introspective look at aging, memory, and the face of death.
Creative Team: The screenplay will be penned by Troy Blake.
Strong Horror Momentum
Intrinsic Value Films, co-founded by Aimee Schoof and Isen Robbins, is no stranger to the genre. The announcement of the new slate comes on the heels of the successful festival run for their latest horror feature:
The Red Mask premiered to sold-out crowds at FrightFest in London and Screamfest in Los Angeles.
The film has generated buzz as a smart, meta-horror slasher that critiques toxic fandom and online malice, proving the company's commitment to the new age of genre cinema.
Other Major Projects
While expanding their horror presence, Intrinsic Value’s new slate also includes two other high-profile, IP-based projects:
Gene: A biopic based on the exclusive life rights of the beloved actor Gene Wilder (Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory). The film will explore his life and career, focusing on the relationships that shaped him.
Wham-O: Titled The Story of Wham-O, this project will capture the heart and entrepreneurial spirit of the legendary American toy company behind iconic products like the Frisbee® and Hula Hoop®.
Intrinsic Value states that this slate marks an expansion into larger-scale, IP-based storytelling while maintaining their "signature focus on character, voice, and emotionally resonant narratives."
