Weekly Horror Movie News: Trailer for Long Awaited Horror Movie WHISTLE finally drops

Haven’t we been repeatedly warned not to touch ancient or cursed objects? Yet, teenagers believe they are above the law and continue to get themselves into awful situations anyway.

But for horror fans, that means we get another supernatural horror movie where high schoolers try to survive the very problem they brought upon themselves.

Based on Owen Egerton’s story, Whistle is about a group of high school misfits who come upon an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. Using it causes their future deaths to hunt them down. To save themselves, they must dig into the artifact's history.

They should have done it way before they decided to use it. In fact, as you watch the trailer, you will wonder why they didn’t bother to verify facts before they decided to use the artifact for fun.

In the trailer, we see a grief counselor address high school students at an assembly.

One of the students notices a student up ahead who is twitching. It turns around and she is shocked at the resemblance.

We then see a girl called Chrys, walk into the school and when she opens her bag in the classroom, an artificat pops out which catches the attention of the other cast members.

The group then meet up with Mr Craven and ask him to translate what the writings on the artifact are. While he fumbles to translate, the group immediately decide that the translation is to summon the dead.

And so, of course, the teens decide to play truth or dare, and one of them takes it upon herself to blow on the whistle.

Cue piercing sounds and flashing lights, and the teens are now scared.

They visit a woman who preaches about how the day you are born, so is death. That probably means that your fate is already decided. The woman, who is probably suffering from an illness, corrects the translation. It was summon YOUR death. Not summon the dead.

Everyone who has heard the whistle is now a target. Including Mr Craven for some reason. Was he hovering by the teens while they were in the hot tub or was the whistle loud enough to reach anyone who has ever touched the artifact?

The teens are stalked and hunted. There’s running around, people being set on fire, some being dunked into an ice bath, and utter chaos.

Will the teens survive their future selves or will they perish? Will they ever learn to properly translate artifacts before using them? Probably not.

Written by Owen Egerton, Whistle is directed by Corin Hardy (The Nun). The film stars Dafne Keen (Logan) as Chrys, Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets) as Ellie, Sky Yang (Rebel Moon) as Rel, Jhaleil Swaby (Found) as Dean, Ali Skovbye (Firefly Lane) as Grace, Percy Hynes White (Wednesday), and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) as Mr. Craven.

Whistle will release on February 6th.
