How to Survive A Villain: GHOST FACE

Welcome to a brand new series: HOW TO SURVIVE A VILLAIN.

If you ever watched a movie and found yourself screaming at the screen, unable to believe that characters could be foolish enough to put them right in the villain's path, this is for you.

Imagine if it wasn't them, but you who is the main character. Do you have it in you to become the final person, or will you end up being the next victim?

Here's a small guide for you.

First up is... Ghost Face!

Villain Snapshot

Making their debut in 1996, Ghost Face has become a popular horror icon over the years. And let’s not forget, the Ghost Face costume is a popular Halloween costume as well.

Ghost Face bleeds, trips, fumbles, and uses a voice changer to sound menacing. Yet the body count is almost a hundred, making Ghost Face a terrifying villain.

Ghost Face's Rules

Seven movies, multiple humans behind it, is it even possible to escape Ghost Face if you’re not Sidney Prescott?

1) Ghost Face doesn’t just show up without calling first. They are very much interested in getting to know you, especially your favorite horror movies. After exchanging pleasantries, that is when they announce that they are already at your place.

2) They like to do cardio and prefer that you get in a few minutes of exercise too before they eventually go for the kill.

3) Ghost Face can be a little messy, and stuff around the house does get thrown about during the chase.

4) They always use a voice changer. It’s mostly about hiding their identity, but also because they are self-conscious about how they sound on the phone.

5) There are always two Ghost Faces, if not three. Being human means they don’t have the ability to show up at two places at once, so they need to work as a team. Besides, it helps them confuse their victims as to who is really under the Droopy Eyes mask.

6) They may not possess supernatural powers, but somehow, after getting knocked over, they still manage to get up, scream, and raise the knife before being delivered the final shot.

7) It is almost always someone the final girl knows. It’s either a friend or a family member of the previous Ghost Face. Yet, with all that is going on, no one suspects that the killer could be closer than the victims can imagine.

How to Survive Ghostface

1) Your best bet of surviving Ghostface is being called Sidney Prescott. But since it’s not, and you’re likely in her circle, consider yourself a target.

2) Do not answer calls from unknown numbers. If you happen to accidentally take a call, and they ask you about your favorite horror movies, immediately pivot the conversation to something controversial or boring. Ask them about their political views and about equal rights. Talk about the most boring movie you saw. Ghostface will not only cross you off their “next victim” list, but they will also be the one to hang up first.

3) Avoid making a big friend group. If you find yourself pulled into one, immediately disassociate with anyone connected to Sidney Prescott. You will be used to send a message to her.

4) Ghost Face is no longer tied to Woodsboro, so don’t waste your time trying to relocate. You could move towns and still be targeted.

5) Ghost Face is human, so remember that he cannot get through locked doors.

6) If there is a Ghost Face threat in your town, remember to wear your shoes at all times, even at home. Running barefoot during a chase will lead you to suffer injuries, leading you to slow down and get caught.

7) Always keep things around you that you can chuck at Ghostface during an attack, like pillows, food, etc.

8) Always assume there are two Ghostfaces. Just because you knocked over one, doesn’t mean another one isn’t standing behind you. During confrontation, remember to keep your back against the wall.

9) If you do end up talking to Ghost Face on the phone, put him on speaker, and let the people around you also start talking to him. This will ruin the show Ghost Face was trying to put on and seem menacing.

10) Do not listen to your friend’s advice to split up. It will always end up with you being targeted first because, as it has been established before, your name is not Sidney Prescott.

11) Do not assume he is dead. Unless it was a headshot, Ghostface will rise again, so keep your makeshift weapons ready to strike, or better yet, shield yourself behind someone carrying an actual weapon.
