Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man Drops a Bloody Red Band Trailer
Your first reaction to watching the red band trailer for Ice Cream Man is likely to be: " Is this even allowed?
Apparently, YouTube has allowed some channels to show that kind of violence. It’s a movie written and directed by Eli Roth, so what did you expect?
As if the trailer wasn’t enough, the poster of the movie is likely to give you nightmares too!
Ice Cream Man’s latest poster shows a girl holding an ice cream cone in one hand and a severed head in the other. There is presumably ice cream slathered all over her mouth while the Ice Cream Man looks on with crazed excitement.
But the trailer offers more than a still picture of violence. It’s brutal, it will make you gasp, and then make you inexplicably wonder if every violent scene has actually been shown in the trailer, or if there's more brutality in the actual movie.
In any case, Ice Cream Man catches your attention even if it is because of the violence. In fact, that is the reason, or else it seems yet another story of children being brainwashed into hurting adults.
Eli Roth’s pet project will probably make you want to avoid ice cream this summer. Definitely do not give ice cream to kids!
ICE CREAM MAN Trailer Breakdown
In the trailer, we see an idyllic town, and then the Ice Cream Man gives a deranged smile as one of the girls walks away with a scoop. One flick of a button and a knife sticks out.
A neighbor frantically asks the girl what happened, and she replies that her mother has been hurt. A scene shows the girl using a hacksaw on her mother. The father wakes up screaming, but the son hits him with a baseball bat.
We then see a boy at his family dinner, asking about the Ice Cream Man. He thinks the Ice Cream Man is weird. Ah, so he is our protagonist, the only one with common sense. Of course, he won’t be taken seriously at all.
Luckily, he has two other friends who are not affected like the other kids in their school at all. Perhaps it’s a good time to be lactose intolerant?
The next few scenes in the trailer will test how strong your stomach is.
The school teachers and principal are attacked, exams are definitely cancelled, and every kid has weird colored ice cream around their mouths that indicates they have been zombified.
There is the stereotypical adult, in this case a priest, whose job is to instruct the kids on how to defeat the Ice Cream Man. Of course, the solution is violent as well.
As the trailer comes to an end, a girl uses her ice cream scoop to scoop out brains.
Will this movie horrify you or catch your interest with its dark humor?
Most importantly, will this movie end up being censored in a lot of countries due to its violent content?
Ice Cream Man releases on August 7th.
