Holiday Tradition turns deadly in NEW YEAR'S ABSOLUTION
While we are months away from the actual New Year's, that doesn't mean that we cannot celebrate chilling thrillers in July.
Scatner & Rosner Films has announced the North American release of director Nick Leisure's chilling thriller "New Year's Absolution" on July 14 on VOD and digital, including Amazon Prime Video, Fandango At Home, DISH Network, and DirecTV.
NEW YEAR'S ABSOLUTION PLOT DETAILS
The film follows a tight-knit group of long-time friends as they gather for their traditional annual New Year's Eve party. A staple of their celebration involves exchanging anonymous resolutions: a game that, in the past, has brought excitement, fun, and positive life changes to the group.
However, this year's gathering takes a dark turn when an anonymous note reading "Kill Someone" is introduced into the pile. The resolution falls into the hands of Jacob, a heavily stressed police officer, who immediately interprets the message as a specific and direct threat against his life.
What follows is a rapid breakdown of trust within the group. The discovery triggers a chain of tragic events, escalating paranoia, desperate cover-ups, and casualties. As deep-buried secrets come to light, the festive celebration devolves into a chaotic and bloody night, ultimately forcing the survivors to confront a chilling decision.
NEW YEAR'S ABSOLUTION TRAILER BREAKDOWN
The trailer reveals that the movie is not all thrills and chills. We do see hints of dark humor, especially where the homeowner is concerned.
In the trailer, we see 8 friends gather for a New Year's Party. There is drinking, substances exchanged, hookups, and, of course, a cleanliness freak who isn't too thrilled a dog is in his house, uninvited. As the party progresses, the friends decide to play a game, and as per the plot, one of them picks up a slip that says "Kill Someone".
Soon enough, the party of 8 turns into a party of 6. One of them is bleeding and lying in a bathtub. The wives are bickering about whose husband shot someone and whose husband cleaned up the blood.
Meanwhile, the dog is roaming around, making a mess, much to the chagrin of the homeowner, whose concern is for his floors!
New Year's Absolution looks like a fun, chaotic movie with doses of thrills at the right moments.
