Horror Movie News: Clayface teaser drop. Releases this October
The third film in the DC Universe, and from Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, CLAYFACE finally has a teaser.
The movie was officially showcased at CinemaCon, where the teaser was presented.
In the teaser, we see a bandaged Matt Hagen on a hospital bed. We get glimpses of the past, where he was a movie star at a premiere. The scene shifts to him strapped down while a scalpel is being used on his face. Then him in a mask and being injected with a toxin.
We see him bond with the scientist who helps him and get revenge on the people who disfigured him. The teaser ends with Matt lying in a tub of clay, staring, before using one hand to wipe away his features.
Clayface first made his appearance in DC comics, Detective Comics#40. Interestingly, the original Clayface was Basil Carlo, who was a washed-up actor who went on a killing spree.
Following that, in 1961, Clayface was Matt Hagen, a treasure hunter who fell into a protoplasm pool and became the shapeshifting monster.
There were a total of 8 Clayfaces over the course of the years, and all of them were Batman's nemesis.
Does that mean that at the end of the Clayface movie, we may just get a glimpse of Batman?
A new Batman movie in the DC Universe is in development and titled THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. As of yet, the cast has not been announced, which means that if Batman does make an appearance in Clayface, they will be shrouded in shadows.
Written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, directed by James Watkins, the film stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen alongside Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, David Dencik, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James.
CLAYFACE will release on October 23rd.
