Horror Movie News: Other Mommy Trailer Breakdown
The official trailer for OTHER MOMMY is here. Based on the 2024 novel INCIDENTS AROUND THE HOUSE by Josh Malerman, the story revolves around a mother who needs to protect her daughter from an entity that resembles her. Hence…other mommy.
The trailer opens with a young girl, Bela, who is at home, ready to dig into ice cream when her mother walks in. She confiscates the cookie dough ice cream and then offers to make some pasta. The mother then tells her that she thinks about the time they were one person.
Bela thinks her mother is talking about when she was in her tummy. But her mother says that before that she was in her heart. The pasta water boils rapidly behind them. The pasta has burned.
Other Mommy sure has powers that can boil pasta a little too quickly.
Anyway, she asks Bela if she can go in her heart now. Bela reminds her that she had promised not to come out of the room, but Other Mommy tells her that Bela looked lonely.
The fire alarm goes off, Bela’s father comes running in and starts scolding his daughter when he spots his wife being a contortionist. He is startled and falls sideways right through the window.
The following scenes show the actual mother trying to protect her daughter, who claims the other mommy isn’t so bad.
Can she protect her daughter from the evil entity?
The movie is apparently not supposed to be a direct adaptation of the book but is inspired by the bestselling novel, which means the ending is most likely to be vastly different from the book.
